GTEK High Energy Planetary Ball Mills can be used for wet and dry grinding of hard, soft, brittle or fibrous materials.

In addition to well-proven size reduction processes, planetary ball mills can also be used for for mixing, homogenizing of emulsions and pastes or for mechanical alloying. GTEK high energy planetary ball mill adopt extremely high centrifugal forces resulting in very high pulverization energy in a very short time.

The planetary ball mills are required for sample preparation for a variety of analytical methods, such as: particle size analysis or X-ray fluorescence analysis.

Working Principle

The planetary ball mill has several grinding jars that are arranged eccentrically on the sun wheel of the planetary ball mill. The grinding jar with sample material and balls in it rotates on its own axis on in the opposite direction of the sun wheel.

The grinding balls in the grinding jars are subjected to superimposed rotational movements, the so-called Coriolis forces. The difference in speeds between the balls and grinding jars produces an interaction between friction and impact forces, which releases high dynamic energies.

The sample material is crushed primary through the high impact energy of grinding balls, together with friction between sample material, the balls and the wall of grinding jars.
